Move with control
Understand tempo and give every repetition a clear beginning and end.
Tempo is movement speed
Tempo describes how long you spend lowering, pausing and lifting. For ordinary strength practice, a smooth, deliberate repetition is a useful starting point. Avoid bouncing or using a swing to move the weight.
Use the timer as a guide
A timer announces when an interval ends; it does not measure technique. Complete your movement under control and pause when needed. Follow the exercise instructions for movements that intentionally use a different rhythm, such as jumping.
Record completed reps after the set. A smaller number of consistent reps is more useful to compare next time than a number reached by rushing.
